Such Gravity i was thinking about gravity
and childhood -

how it pulled me from the ageless
azure every time i jumped

but didn't keep me from getting hurt.

i thought religion and science were
non-compliant.

but this force is physics -
an elemental overlord settling
our feet on to the same
tuffs of earth.

and if someone were to ask me
about God and his creation
my fascination would seem silly;
but try me -

a raceless, ageless, genderless presence
in all tenses -

impenetrable to judgment or whathaveyou;
never leaves us alone but the tone is
gentle every time i fly.

just a law to be assured by

Hide and Seek i cough and saddle up to my seat in class
a little late but poised and attentive -
there's a hollow seat on my left which
feels haunted like the attic that always
creaked during hide and seek at home

i was never much of a seeker, closets and
frayed bed-frames always concealed more
than just a friend to me; sometimes broken
bones or old telephones would appear to me
like an apparition veiled by memories.

my teacher's got a mason jar for a head -
it's clunky; all the good thoughts are
rotten and cold. got his lips screwed
on tight enough to choke secrets out,
but class continues on about plato's forms.

These are but enjambments Ode to a river reciting in time the slight
tinge of life, the syrup of passing days
is a molasses daze blinking in my hand;
It's a burlesque mud, grand and wanton titans
Throttle it 'till all the grains are free.

From it I pluck your beating heart,
I restart the synapses string by sagging string,
Come what may I assume the luck of five fellowships,
Sanguine bodies nestled in the riverbed,
Trifling sums of turbulent waves shant keep me at tides' edge,
I wade in the waters at my knees, my waist, chin-deep
I keep up splash by splash, dashing down the thighs
Of my lucid lover, you toss water in my eyes and I smile,

to keep up with
the time signature of your laughter,
or the delicate bassline of your smiles

And I want every song lyric I hear
to mean something to you,
but I don't want to settle for your mouth's serenading chords
in lieu of conversation.

The shoulder and arm

After about 6-7 months off from deviant art, I'm finally back submitting new work. I think I was away from it for so long for the following reasons...

- major writers block
- forgot
- lack of motivation

Regardless, I'm back now so that's all that counts. Looking forward to continuing my artistic development in writing, and who knows...perhaps even other kinds of art besides that sometime in the future.
